EARLY SCHOOL CLOSING

(Students go home at 12:30 p.m. on these days)

September 28th, January 18th

LUNCH ROOM PRIVILEGES

It is the expectation that students who stay at school for lunch demonstrate appropriate behaviour, display proper eating habits and obey requests made by the staff.  Students who stay for lunch must remain on school property throughout the noon hour. A written note must be sent to the school if there is a change in our child’s lunch arrangements

Parents are asked to review these expectations with their children.  Parents of children who do not abide by these lunch rules will be contacted by the school.  If a child is not able to follow the lunch rules, he/she will be refused lunch room privileges.  Parents would have to make alternate lunch arrangements. Your cooperation and support in these matters is appreciated.

SCHOOL  CLOSURE

SCHOOLS CLOSED ALL DAY/ INCLEMENT WEATHER

The Director of Education may decide that school should be closed for the day.  School closings and the cancellation of bus transportation will be broadcast after 7:00 a.m. on the major radio stations serving the greater Toronto area.  Please listen to the radio on days when the weather is questionable.

                                   AM    590, 680, 740, 790, 860, 1010, 1050, 1250, 1290, 1320

                                   FM    92.5, 93.1, 98.1, 99.1, 102.1

BURNT ELM  PUBLIC SCHOOL is included in "Peel District Public School Board" system.  Unless schools are specifically "CLOSED", they will open to receive students although regular programs may not always be possible. If the “BUSES ARE CANCELLED BUT THE SCHOOL IS OPEN”, children may come to school but parents are responsible for the safe transportation to and from school.

Some staff may be delayed; others may be prevented from arriving.  No child will be sent home at other than normal dismissal times without the parent, guardian or a responsible adult having been notified in advance.  Although Board officials will endeavour to keep schools open whenever possible, the final decision about sending children to school in poor weather rests with the parents.
